Oil Painting Workshop
Classes start October 21st and will be held on Wednesdays from 1-4pm. Select the first day you are available to start, then you will be able to provide dates you are available for the other 3 classes by answering a question at checkout. Coming every week consecutively is not required.
Ages: Adults 18 and up
Price: $320 for a 4 week class block (3 hour sessions, once a week for 4 weeks) If you would like further instruction, additional 4 week blocks can be purchased later on. Please contact the instructor if you would like to pay via cash or check to avoid the additional fees incurred by TicketLeap.
The instructor will provide loose canvas for exercises, a couple small 9x12in canvas boards, small palettes for paints and mixing, oil paint, linseed oil, Gamsol, paint rags, and a small table easel. These supplies can only be used on location for classes and may not be taken home. A list of terms and techniques and a color wheel guide that may be taken home will be provided. If you would like your own personal supplies, select the ticket option without supplies included. $50 will be subtracted from the class price and an in-depth list of supplies needed is available upon request. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on and bring an apron or smock. Oil paint will not come out of fabric once dry and can stain.
Oil painting has been used for hundreds of years as a favorite amongst many well-known masters. There are a plethora of techniques to explore, and the list to be provided covers the most common and well-versed. In this class you will explore the buttery feel of painting in oil and experiment with all the textures and life it can bring to your art practice. Basic knowledge of drawing techniques are required for this class. For those who are inexperienced with the medium, you will learn to play with mixing the paint through creating a color wheel, paint a 9x12 still life exercise, and paint a 9x12 painting with your choice of photo reference. If you have worked with oil before and already understand the color mixing basics, but need some guidance and instruction for personal projects, the beginner exercises can be waived and we can discuss your experience level and instructional needs.
Please allow 1-2 business days for Rachel to respond to your submission.
